Sheffield’s popular Net-walking group celebrates its first successful year this Friday, 19 October. Since Net-walking – a unique FREE networking experience, started in October 2011, the 120 members have seen hail, floods, tropical sunshine and rain- but networked on regardless!
Business owner and keen walker Faye Smith of Keep your Fork Marketing and her Netwalking co-founder, client Lucy Lippolis of Sparkles parties and events run Net-walking events to offer fresh ideas in the fresh air. While walking, Faye offers free marketing and PR advice and fellow Net-walkers share their expertise and challenges in a fun, informal environment.
Lucy says, “Net-walking has been brilliant. Our members, some of whom have come from as far afield as Barnsley and Derbyshire to Net-Walk, have made some valuable business contacts and really got to know each other well. Since my company hosts parties and events, we will be coming up with some of our trademark surprises on Friday and Net-walkers can be sure of a party bag!”
Anita Grover, digital homeworker, has been coming to Netwalking to get out of her home office and enjoy the company of others in the fresh air. Anita enthuses, “I met regular Net-walker Janita in the Sheffield Digital Homeworking Group during 2009 and kept in touch with her via Facebook which is how I found out about Netwalking Group. For the past three years I have been home-working for a company, becoming increasingly unfit and isolated, so netwalking has been great- I thoroughly enjoy it. Now I have more business coming in, I can now take the Friday morning off once a month. It is fantastic to pick up tips from other experts, share experiences, discover contacts and be able to refer others- many are ‘like minded’ people who live locally.”
Anita concludes “the fact that I live just next to the park makes it an ideal venue for me. The fresh air, walk and coffee is an absolutely ideal combination I hope grows and continues!”
The next FREE Fresh Air Friday net-walk starts 9am on Friday 19 October, about 3 miles up the Porter Valley and back from Endcliffe Park Café, returning to the café for a well-deserved optional drink on completion. Entrepreneurs, experts and employees welcome! Meet at the café at 9am, rain or shine with suitable clothing, footwear and business cards.
The next walk on the third Friday of each month will be on Friday 16 December.
